T–Shirt Quilt

Have you ever wanted to take the multitude of T–shirts that we collect and turn them into a wonderful memory quilt?  Here is your chance to learn just how.  Guest Educator, Gloria Snowman, will teach you how to take the sports, race, souvenir, kids T–shirts and make them into a beautiful T–shirt quilt that you can show off or cuddle up with while remembering all those wonderful moments.

This series will be taught in three parts – Planning and Preparing, Creating the Quilt, Finishing and Binding.  Prior to the first class you will be sent a list of how to cut your T–shirts at home to prepare them.  Each class will teach you and allow you to practice the techniques you will need for you to complete the work on your quilt at home to be prepared for the next step.

Pre–requisites include knowledge of machine and basic sewing skills.

Note: If this is your first quilt, we recommend you start with a crib or twin size.

Fee

This is a 6–hour class (three 2–hour classes).  The fee is $120.00 plus supplies.  A supply list will be provided upon registration.

Schedule

Class One – Planning and Preparing

This class will provide an overview of the quilt making process, discuss different options for your quilt layout and begin the planning stage.  You will then learn how to take your cut t-shirts and stabilize them in preparation for your next class.  You will practice this method at the studio, however, the bulk of them will be completed at home.

Class Two – Creating and Sewing Your Blocks

This class will present an overview of the quilting options, fabric requirements for backing, binding and inside layer.  You will then learn how how to make and put your blocks together.  You will practice this in class, however, the bulk of the work will be completed at home.

Class Three – Finishing Your Quilt

This class will show demonstrations of different quilting techniques and you will prepare take–home samples for reference.  You will also learn two different binding techniques and prepare samples of those as well.
